Biography

Anna Virginia Pierce, 98, of Berryville, Virginia, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Pierce was born September 15, 1911 in Clarke County, Virginia, the daughter of Curtis Elsea and Sara Elizabeth Pierce.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Clarke County Senior Center; VFW of Berryville; and a charter member of Berryville Moose Lodge. She had served as chaplain for both the VFW and Moose.
She married Thomas Clayton Pierce in 1930. Mr. Pierce died on September 22, 1967.
Surviving is three daughter, Anna Verts of Winchester, VA, Patricia Linster of Winchester, VA, and Linda Orndorff of Brunswick, MD; three sons, William “Toad” Pierce of Boyce, VA, Wayne Pierce of Berryville, VA, and Jerry Pierce, Sr. of Boyce, VA; 31 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Jeanette Fowler and Shirley Jones, two sons, Clayton Pierce and David Pierce, and four brother, Chester Pierce, Brownie Pierce, Nick Pierce, and Ed Pierce preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, VA with The Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, VA.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Pierce, Ricky Wright, Dickie McDonald, Sawyer Pierce, Jericho Pierce, and Lenny Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Friends at Clarke County Senior Center.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
